On October 19, the Huaqing Lecture was smoothly held in Lishan and Qinhan campuses of our university.Yao Peisheng, former Chinese Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Kazakhstan and Ukraine, Yuan Nansheng, former Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Zimbabwe and the Republic of Suriname, and former Party Secretary and Executive Vice President of the China Foreign Affairs University, attended the Huaqing Lecture Hall on invitation and made special reports for our teachers and students.Vice President Chen Chunlin presided over the symposium, which was participated by more than 1,000 people, including heads of relevant departments and representatives of teachers and students.
On the afternoon of October 19, Yao Peisheng gave a keynote speech on "My Diplomatic Experience" on the Qinhan Campus.Based on his challenging years serving diplomatic positions in Ukraine and some Central Asian countries, he elaborated the nature and origin of the "color revolution", displaying to the teachers and students the complex relationship between the "color revolution" and non-governmental organizations, geopolitics, CIS, Russia, etc. and its impact on China.He then encouraged the faculty and students to cherish China's peaceful, stable and prosperous development gains and to fulfill the important mission of safeguarding national interests in their future learning of foreign affairs.
Yuan Nansheng made a special report on "Review, Thinking and Prospect of Diplomatic Work" on Lishan Campus on the evening of October 19.Through "five experiences" and "five thoughts", he reviewed his own experience in dealing with the Asiana Airline crash and President Mugabe's engagement in the Beijing Olympics and other diplomatic events, bringing vivid and wonderful stories to teachers and students and showing the characteristics of China's diplomacy.To deliver better diplomatic outcomes under new circumstances, he said, all of us should, bearing the big picture in mind, take on our due responsibilities and blaze new trails in a pioneering spirit while putting people first and paying attention to the details.
Chen Chunlin pointed out when presiding over the meeting that, the two ambassadors Yao Peisheng and Yuan Nansheng gave us a vivid patriotic education lesson and a thought-provoking situation and policy lesson with their wonderful diplomatic experiences. Both ambassadors have managed to defend the core interests of our motherland and the image of the Chinese nation through their outstanding diplomatic skills and efforts. They thus represented the glorious image and demonstrated the wisdom, feelings, mission and responsibility of Chinese diplomats.
The success of this Huaqing Lecture Hall is of very weighty significance for the entire university to thoroughly study and implement Xi Jinping's socialist diplomatic thoughts with Chinese characteristics in the new era, carry out the fundamental task of cultivating talents with virtue, enhance students' awareness of politics, the overall situation, the core and keeping in alignment with the central Party leadership, and resolutely safeguard the authority of the CPC Central Committee and centralized and unified leadership, thus cultivating the national pride, sense of responsibility and sense of mission among students.
