In order to further study and implement Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for the New Era and fully apply the guidelines of the 19th Congress of the CPC, the National College Ideological and Political Work Conference and the National Education Conference, and promote the effectiveness of student aid, Xi'an University of Science and Technology held in the afternoon of June 11 the appointment ceremony of "Promotion Ambassador for Student Aid" and the first Campus Speaking Tour of the National Scholarship and National Inspiration Scholarship Winners in 2019 in the lecture hall on the first floor of Coal Science and Technology Center of Lishan Campus, Lintong District. Fan Jianwu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, attended the meeting and presented a letter of appointment to the student representative of the "Promotion Ambassador of Student Aid".
At the appointment ceremony, the student representative of the Promotion Ambassador of Student Aid made an initiative speech. Four students who won the National Scholarship and the National Encouragement Scholarship shared in the meeting their gains and improvements in mind and learning by giving speeches, namely "Drawing the Most Beautiful Concentric Circle and Striving for the Brightest Future with Wisdom and Efforts," "Building a T-shaped Platform for Individual Academic Development," "Stepping on the Road to Success with Courage, Wisdom and Perseverance" and "My Trilogy of Struggle--Present, Energy and Vigour." Participants expressed their gratitude to the Party and the state for establishing a financial aid policy system featuring "awards, grants, loans, subsidies, and work study programs," and to the school for its meticulous cultivation. They said they will follow the example of outstanding students and turn their gratitude into the aspiration and strength to serve the people and motherland with wisdom.
This campus tour is said to be held for another four sessions in the near future, with 8 representatives giving speeches to more than 3,000 students of the whole school. Since its launch in 2015, 258 National Scholarship and National Encouragement Scholarship winners have shown a positive and energetic spiritual outlook in the event. Through the setting of role models around the students, the activity effectively encourages the students to study hard to strive for a better future, forming a positive and enterprising atmosphere, fully presenting the excellent results of the student aid programs. This September, the tour group will also provide practical guidance and help for the freshmen to start a new life and complete the change of role in the university as soon as possible.
A total of 600 participants attended in the event, including the responsible persons of the Office of Student Affairs, the Youth League Committee, the deputy secretaries in charge of student affairs of each college, the directors of the Student Management Office, the representatives of counselors, the representatives of the winners of national scholarships and national encouragement scholarships in the academic year 2017-2018, and the representatives of students.
