With Children's Day coming soon, on May 29, Li Ming, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Xi'an University of Science and Technology, led a team to the Central Primary School and Central Kindergarten of Yuyuan Village in Changwu County to carry out the "Care for Left-over Children" Charity Donation and Consolation Activities for "June 1st" Celebration. A forum on poverty relief was held.
Li Ming and his entourage first came to Yuyuan Central Kindergarten. After inspecting the hardware facilities of the kindergarten and learning about the teachers, they exchanged views on the joint construction of the kindergarten. Subsequently, Li Ming donated books, building blocks, colored pens, oil pastels and other school supplies to the kindergarten, gave them to the children, and wished that they could happily grow, study and live in the kindergarten.
At Yuyuan Central Primary School, Li Ming held talks with officials of the school and learned about the basic situations of the school. He then donated school bags, pencil boxes and other school supplies to the school's 11 left-over children from registered households, and donated books and magazines to the school. He also donated pencil boxes and other school supplies to the remaining 195 students. Finally, Li Ming and his entourage exchanged views with the representatives of primary school students, encouraging them to study hard, make progress every day, live up to the great trust of their parents, teachers, and society. The students were encouraged to set up lofty ambitions and ideals from early on, form good behavior, and grow into the pillars of our motherland with ideals, morality, education, and discipline at an early age, so as to strive to become qualified socialist successors.
After that, Li Ming and his entourage went deeply into Yuyuan Village to pay their respects to some poor villagers and cadres stationed in the village, and inspected on the spot the poverty relief industrial program of the village--the Chinese herbal medicine processing workshop. Li Ming sent Liu Shuping, the recipient of paired assistance of the Organ Party Committee, a brand-new electric motorcycle on behalf of our university at his home. Liu Shuping thanked the university for its sincere support for him over the years and presented the school with a golden banner that said "Support the poor with true feelings and warm people's hearts with sincere help." Li Ming accepted the banner on behalf of the university and encouraged him to break away from poverty through his own efforts, while at the same time leading the poor people around him to break away from poverty too. The Party Committee of the College of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering of the university donated a laptop computer to the children of Yang Jianwu, a registered poor household for the "Supply Education to Home" charity program. Party Committees of the university's directly affiliated units, College of Science and Art College sent Zongzi, Medicine, and daily necessities to their respective paired assistance recipients.
Prior to the visit, Li Ming and his entourage had a discussion and exchanged views with Cao Guanghua, subprefect of Changwu County, the responsible person of Xianggong Town, and members of the CPC Committee and the Villagers Committee of Yuyuan Village. The responsible person of Xianggong Town introduced in detail the highlights of the experiences and practices in poverty relief work of the town. He hoped that the university would give full play to its advantages in resources, further strengthen its support, and help Yuyuan Village overcome poverty. The university working team stationed in the village reported on the implementation of poverty relief work and the existing difficulties in Yuyuan Village in 2019, and reported on the next step of the work. The person in charge of the Organization Department of the university Party Committee summed up the paired assistance work of the university in 2018 and the development and highlights of the "Double Hundred Projects". After listening to the report, Li Ming said that the university will continue to strengthen its support work, adhere to the "four do-not-picks" principle, help Changwu County to solve the outstanding problems of "two do-not-worry-abouts and three guarantees," and make new contributions to the industrial development. The university will also do a good job in the joint construction of the Chinese herbal medicine processing workshop with Yuyuan Village. Cao Guanghua fully affirmed and highly praised the university's support work and achievements made in Changwu County over the years, and hoped that the university could further integrate resources, continue to strengthen the working team stationed in the village, and contribute to the economic and social development of Changwu County.
