On May 17, the 7th Sunshine Sports Badminton Competition for Chinese College Students was held in the Sports Training Hall in Lingui Campus of Guilin Normal College. Players of our university made a historic breakthrough with super strength, superb skills, and the courage to forge ahead without fear of difficulty, achieving the national third place in mixed doubles. The spiritual style of the XUST players won unanimous acclaim from the Organizing Committee and teams of other colleges and universities.
During the match, players from all colleges played and communicated with each other. They sweated on the court while enhancing mutual friendship. Our men's group met its strongest opponent and this year's champion team, Central South University, in the knockout tournament. Even facing the strong opponent, our courageous and unyielding players bravely "showed their swords". In the face of the CSU's No.1 single player, who had a high attack frequency, Xu Chunlin of our university reacted calmly and gave full play to his own strength. Our university's men's doubles players Li Xu and Wang Yuzhu, relying on their own characteristics of doubles game, launched a fierce confrontation with Central South University's team. Although we regretfully lost the game in the end, we displayed the XUST spirit well. Our women's group also met a strong rival, Xiamen University team, in the knockout tournament. Our women's single No.1 player, Cheng Luchun, on the strength of her rich experience and excellent level, won the first game with an overwhelming 21: 2 score. Women's doubles players Yan Xiaoxue and Zhu Xiaoya, facing the fierce offense of Xiamen University women's doubles, played a wise strategy to make good use of vacancy, and achieved good results. Cheng Wen, representing our university as a women's single player for the first time, was not afraid of the second women's singles of Xiamen University at all. She used his running to consume her opponent. Mixed doubles players Xu Chunlin and Zhu Xiaoya made a historic breakthrough. They stood out all along forward, and got the national third place in the end.
