On May 7, the Shaanxi provincial expert group for "Double First Class" construction and graduate education management and quality assurance came to our university to carry out investigation and survey. Yuan Ning, Secretary-General of the Provincial Academic Degree Committee, Zhang Heping, Director of the Graduate Student Affairs Office of the Provincial Department of Education and Director of the Provincial Academic Degree Committee Office, attended the investigation and survey. Fang Yu, former President of Shaanxi Normal University, was the head of the investigation expert group. The expert group included: Yang Pengfei, Deputy Director of the Discipline Construction Office of Northwestern Polytechnic University; Ji Hongbing, Executive Vice Dean of the Graduate School of Xi'an University of Electronic Science and Technology; Wang Tao, Director of the Discipline Construction Office of Northwest University; Li Lin, Dean of the Graduate School of Xi'an Shiyou University; Zhang Hao, Assistant Director of the Graduate Office of the Provincial Department of Education. Zhou Xiaode, Secretary of the Party Committee of the university, Jiang Lin, President of the university and Li Shugang, Vice President of the university attended the investigation and survey forum. The investigation was conducted in two stages: the first stage was presided over by Vice President Li Shugang, and the second stage was presided over by Team Leader Fang Yu.
In his speech, Zhou Xiaode welcomed the experts and introduced the university's history and achievements. He pointed out that this investigation and survey work is an important review of the "Double First Class" construction and graduate education level of our university. He hoped that the experts could give more valuable opinions and suggestions to help the university's various undertakings to achieve greater development.
In his speech, Yuan Ning pointed out that with the gradual expansion of postgraduate education in China, the quality of postgraduate education has become a social concern. For this reason, the Ministry of Education issued a number of systems and measures to promote the quality of postgraduate education. This investigation work is an important measure for the Provincial Department of Education to implement the national policies and improve the quality of graduate education in our province. He stressed that at present, the national "Double First Class" construction has entered the stage of mid-term examination, and our province's "Double First Class" construction work is facing new situations and new tasks. He hoped that the university could seize the opportunity, enhance its strength, and make greater contributions to the "Double First Class" construction work of Shaanxi Province.
Fang Yu made a brief introduction to the investigation and survey, pointing out that the purpose of the investigation was to deeply understand the progress of "Double First Class" construction and the current situations of the quality of graduate education of colleges and universities in our province, sum up work experience, accurately locate problems, and provide consulting suggestions for the next stage of "Double First Class" construction in our province.
Jiang Lin made an investigation report on behalf of the university, comprehensively summarized the construction of "Double First Class" and the management and quality assurance of graduate education in our university, emphatically introduced our university's preparation for the national selection of "Double First Class", for the fifth round of subject level evaluation, and for the application of the thirteenth batch of degree authorization points, and reported on the development needs of the university.
Subsequently, the expert group went to the College of Safety Science and Engineering and learned about the situations of the graduate education of the college, consulted relevant materials about graduate education, visited the State Key Laboratory for Green and Safety Coal Development in Western China, which was under preparation, and held seminars for postgraduate tutors and student representatives respectively.
The expert group highly recognized the "Double First Class" construction work and the graduate education management of our university, and put forward many constructive suggestions and opinions for the discipline construction and graduate education of our university at the same time.
Officials from the President's Office, Graduate School, Discipline Construction Office, Development Planning Office, Publicity Department, International Exchange and Cooperation Office, Office for High-level Talent Affairs, Science and Technology Office, Finance Office, Assets and Logistics Management Office and other relevant departments, as well as the heads of graduate education and discipline construction of 17 colleges, including the College of Safety Science and Engineering, participated in the investigation and survey.
