On the afternoon of April 4, the university held the 2019 Student Representatives Symposium, which was attended and addressed by President Jiang Lin, and presided over by Fan Jianwu, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the University. The meeting was attended by the heads of relevant departments including the Office of Student Affairs, the University Youth League Committee, the Assets and Logistics Administration and the Security Department, as well as the representatives of doctoral students, master students and undergraduates from various colleges.
At the meeting, the student representatives held a heated discussion around the upcoming "Regulations on Safety Management over Student Dormitories of Xi'an University of Science and Technology", and put forward opinions and suggestions on student management, logistical services, campus construction and other issues related to students' study and life and the comprehensive development of the university. They all agreed that the school's various reform and development initiatives in recent years have created favorable conditions for their study and life. The promulgation of the Regulations ensures students' personal and property security to the greatest extent, and they will abide by the university's rules and regulations together with the vast number of students in the future, and work with joint and tireless efforts to promote the university's "Double First Class" construction.
After carefully listening to the speeches of the participants, Jiang Lin had a cordial conversation with the student representatives and highly praised the students for their awareness of the overall situation of the university to maintain the stability and security of the campus. He hoped that students could fully understand the importance and urgency of campus safety, further enhance their awareness of safety precautions, actively master safety knowledge and skills, consciously abide by safety management regulations, and effectively protect their own lives and properties. It is necessary to enhance the sense of ownership, constantly improve the ability of self-education, self-management, self-service and self-supervision, actively participate in the construction of "Double First Class" and "civilized campus" of the university, and put forward suggestions for the university's development in education. He stressed that relevant units and departments shall attach great importance to safety and stability, further enhance their awareness of danger, consolidate their responsibility for safety, strengthen all kinds of safety education and training, carry out solid investigation and management of hidden dangers, and make every effort to maintain the safety, harmony and stability of the campus. In addition, they shall stick to the student-oriented approach, seriously study, adopt and absorb students' opinions and suggestions and implement them in future work. They shall also enrich the service contents, improve the infrastructure, optimize the study and living conditions, comprehensively improve the management service standards according to students' demands. By doing so, the aim is to lay a solid foundation for the construction of first-class undergraduate education of our university, and to greet the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China with outstanding achievements.
