The 7th GIS Application Skills Competition for National College Students was held successfully in Henan University of Technology from November 30 to December 2. The student team guided by Yao Wanqiang and Xia Wenhai, teachers of College of Geodesy and Geomatics, won the first prize.
During the competition, with divided work and close cooperation, team members completed "Collection and Editing of Spatial Data Competition" and "Application and System Design of Spatial Analysis Technology Competition" respectively. Their excellent performance fully demonstrated their solid basic knowledge and excellent practical skills acquired in our university, and reflected our strength in the field of geographic information science.
Organized by China Geographic Information Industry Association, China Geographic Society and the Geography Science Teaching Guidance Committee of the Ministry of Education, this contest is the highest level and largest GIS Comprehensive Application Skill Contest for college students in China. A total of 128 teams from 122 colleges and universities across the country signed up to take part in the competition, setting a new high in the number of participating colleges and universities and participants. The contest aims to improve the quality of GIS undergraduate teaching, promote teaching and learning through competitions, improve the practical ability of Chinese students major in GIS, thereby giving a strong boost to the quality of GIS personnel training.
