The 7th Northwest United University and China Higher Education Forum under the theme of "Working Hard With Patriotism and Making China Strong Through Education " was held in Chang'an campus of the Northwestern Polytechnical University on November 10. Participants studied and followed through the general principles of higher education put forward by the general secretary Xi Jiping and followed the principles of national education conference. In addition, participants talked about the history, educational concepts and academic contributions of Northwest United University and exchanged their views on how to carry forward traditional higher education in China and innovate it further to give a strong boost to build "Double First Class" initiative with Chinese characteristics in the new era.
Jiang Lin, the president of Xi'an University of Science and Technology presided over the president forum of this forum and delivered a report on "Inheriting the Tradition of Running a Mineral University, Staying Committed to Serving the Country With Energy Resources". He gave a brief introduction about the history, achievements, development planning, and exchanges and cooperation of the Xi'an University of Science and Technology and stated the close relationship between Xi'an University of Science and Technology and Northwest United University. Additionally, he summarized achievements that Xi'an University of Science and Technology made by inheriting the bloodline of geology and mineral science of Beiyang University of Technology and carrying forward the mission of serving the country with energy resources. Meanwhile, he also presented the grand blueprint of Xi'an University of Science and Technology that calls for the building of "First-Class University and First-Class Discipline" initiative. His report received wide attention and applauds from the participants.
It is said that the forum which was carried out in the Northwestern Polytechnical University was jointly launched by 13 units. They are China's Higher Education Institute, Guangming Daily Press, Beijing Normal University, Tianjin University, Xi 'an Jiaotong University, Northwestern Polytechnical University, Northwest A&F University, Northwestern University, Northwest Normal University, Hebei Normal University, China University of Mining and Technology, Northeastern University and Shaanxi University of Technology. More than 160 leaders, experts, scholars and education workers from universities, governments and relevant units that have particular connections with the Northwest United University attended the forum.
The leading comrades of the Office of University Party Committee, the Publicity Department, the Development Planning Department, the Higher Education Institute and the Office of University History attended the meeting and exchanged their views with the experts and professors.
