On July 6, Xi'an Rail Transit Construction Office issued an announcement that three stations including Lijiacun of Xi'an Metro Line No. 4 will be renamed. The Lijiacun and Lujiacun subway stations were named after two universities. Moreover, the “Lujiacun” station will be renamed as “ Xi'an University of Science and Technology" station.
Xi'an is one of the cities in which higher education institutions and research institutes are concentrated. In order to further enhance the popularity of colleges and universities in Xi'an, reflect the urban characteristics of “City of Universities”, help the city to catch up and surpass, highlight the image of the national central city and fully consider netizens' appeals, after experts' argumentation and report to the municipal government for approval on June 20, 2018, 3 stations including Lijiacun Station of Metro Line No. 4 and Lujiacun Station and Yannan No. 4 Road Station will be renamed by virtues of successful experiences of Shanghai, Nanjing, Chengdu and other cities which used the name of the universities to name the metro stations.
Details are as follows:
1. The “Lijiacun” station will be renamed the “Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology Lijiacun” station and the English station name will be “JIANZHUKEJIDAXUE·LIJIACUN”;
2. The “Lujiacun” station will be renamed “Xi'an University of Science and Technology” station, and the English name will be “XI'ANKEJIDAXUE”;
3. The “Yannan No. 4 Road” station will be renamed as “Qujiang Chixi” station, and the English name will be “QUJIANGCHIXI”.
