Xi'an University of Science and Technology enjoys a great reputation and cherish a deep foundation; its 60th anniversary celebration will play a flourishing movement.
Since the publication of the announcement (No. 1) specifying the 60th anniversary celebrations of Xi'an University of Science and Technology, the preparations for the celebrations are being carried out in an orderly manner. On May 18, the university held the opening ceremony of the 60th anniversary celebrations, which kicked off the ceremonial events. The celebration activities will be conducted based on the principle of “cohesion, academic promotion, influence extension, and enthusiasm and simplicity” and centered on the theme of “inheritance, innovation, dream-chasing, and transcendence”. The celebration activities will improve cohesion, shape image and advance development of the university by thoroughly implementing the spirit of the the 19th National Congress of the CPC and promoting the construction of “first-class university and first-class disciplines”.
In order to further promote the efficient operation of the various celebrations, the celebration logo, subject headings, theme songs, and major celebration activities will be announced soon.
The 60th anniversary celebrations are not only a milestone in the development history of Xi'an University of Science and Technology, but also a new starting point for our university to strive to catch up and transcend in the future. Subject Headings of the 60th Anniversary of University
Inheritance, Innovation, Dream-chasing, and Transcendence
“Inheritance” means that the university often stays true to the mission, inherits and promotes the university spirit and excellent university motto formed from the 123 years of running university and the independent establishment of the university for 60 years; “innovation” means strengthening the connotation construction, continuous innovation and development on the basis of inheriting the tradition; "dream-chasing" means that in the new historical development stage, the university shall constantly establish great goals for progress and unremittingly pursue new dreams; "transcendence" means sailing at a new starting point, accurately positioning the target that shall be caught up and transcended, grasping new development opportunities and continuously achieving leapfrog development.

On the other hand, these four words shows that all members of Xi'an University of Science and Technology stand at the new starting point of the new era and take the opportunity of the 60th anniversary of the founding of the university to carry forward our cause and forge ahead into the future, gather together and conduct real practice and solid work, so as to constantly accelerating the pace of catching up and transcendence and strive to build our university into an internationally influential and domestic first-class high-level teaching and research oriented university with distinctive characteristics.
Main Activities of the 60th Anniversary Celebration
The main academic activities include:
1. The 11th International Mine Ventilation Congress;
2. International Forum between Chinese and Foreign Universities;
3. 2018 New Silk Road Xi'an International Forum on Waterborne Coatings;
4. The 5th International Workshop on Earth Observation and Remote Sensing Applications (EORSA);
5. The 3rd Silk Road Forum of Overseas Young Scholars;
6. International and domestic academic conferences such as the 2018 National Mine Construction Science Conference;
7. 16 academician public lectures during the celebration.
The main cultural activities include:
1. The completion ceremony of the statue of Professor Hou Yunguang and Yuan Yaoting;
2. The issuance ceremony of History of Xi'an University of Science and Technology;
3. Opening ceremony of Xu Jingcai's Deeds Exhibition Hall;
4. Opening ceremony of the university history museum;
The main activities related to the conference include:
