On the morning of April 23, Santiago Garcìa Granda, president of University of Oviedo, and his party, including Francisco Josè Borge Lòpez, vice president, Marà Josè Àlvarez Faedo, director of International Office and Geng Shengnan, University of Oviedo representative in China, visit Xi’an University of Science and Technology (XUST). Li Shugang, vice president of XUST, intercommunicated with foreign guests at a symposium and the head of International Exchange and Cooperate Center attended the symposium.
Li Shugang extends his warm welcome to the president delegation, and gives a detailed introduction on XUST’s development history, preponderant disciplines and international exchange situations, etc.

Both sides make deep discussion on short-term exchanges, exchange programs, Spanish student exchanges, teacher exchanges, and scientific cooperation, etc. and reach important consensus on the timing, exchange section, expense budget and major selection of the issues discussed during communicating.
Li Shugang signes the memorandum of cooperation with Santiago Garcìa Granda, and hoped that the two universities should take the opportunity of this visit to strengthen cooperation and communication at the symposium.
Founded in 1608, University of Oviedo, one of the top 500 universities in the world, is a public university of Spain. There are 2000 teachers and 25601 students in total. University of Oviedo and XUST offer some common majors, such as, mining engineering, energy engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, chemical engineering, and remote sensing geography informatization at the master's level， which lay a solid foundation for cooperation in majors.
