On the evening of May 28, Xi’an University of Science and Technology (XUST) convened a symposium in No.2 meeting room of Lin Tong campus to mark the 200th birth anniversary of Karl Marx. Over 110 people attend the symposium, including Zhou Xiaode, secretary of the CPC Committee of XUST, Fan Jianwu, deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of XUST, the heads of Party Committee Office, the Department of Student Affairs and the Youth League Committee, the secretaries for student services of each school, the secretaries and deputy secretaries of the League Committee, the eleventh senior classes of the Marxist youth training project for cultivating the core students called “Hu Yang Youth”, and the representatives of league branch secretary of each school.
Fan Jianwu conveys the important spirits of President Xi Jinping’s speech addressed at a conference to mark the 200th birth anniversary of Karl Marx, and of the speeches of youth work addressed respectively at Peking University, Beijing Normal University and China University of Political science and Law. Xue Jianhang, deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of School of Communication Engineering, Guo Xiaozhong, secretary of the League Committee of Department of Safety Science and Engineering, Wu Xingjian, student counselor of 2015 of Department of Material Science and Engineering, Gao Wenjing, deputy secretary the League Committee of XUST, Gao Chao, president of Student Union, Pu Yan, deputy secretary of the League Committee of School of Management, and Xu Yuanyuan, League secretary of 2016 of School of Marxism, respectively make speeches to communicate understandings of the core of Marxism and the meaning of Xi’s speech according to the study and work experience.
Zhou Xiaode makes a conclusion to the symposium. He put forward specific requirements to profoundly experience the charm of Marxism, accurately grasp the essences of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, complete the “Training Project for Youth Marxists”, and consciously assume the historic mission of youth Marxists entrusted by New Era.
Zhou Xiaode states that the charm of Marxism is tightly connected with the charming personalities of its founder Marx and Engels and interdependent on its disclosure and criticism of capitalism and developes in the same direction as the understandings of development law of human society and human's free and comprehensive development. Times breeds thoughts, and theory comes from practice. Xi’s thought contains the original aspiration and the mission of Chinese Communists that is to seek happiness for the Chinese people and rejuvenation for the Chinese nation.
Zhou Xiaode emphasizes that the aims of “Training Project for Youth Marxists” are to enhance political and ideological education of our students, promote excellent core members faster and better growth and focus on cultivating and bringing up a new generation of Marxists armed with the latest achievement in adapting Marxism to the Chinese context among youths. For years of reform and innovation, “Training Project for Youth Marxists” has been a demonstration project of XUST. “Training Class for Youth Marxists” has been a necessity to realize self-improvement, comprehensive development and healthy growth for youths, fulfill the responsibility of cultivating talents for XUST, and adapt to the development of the society and times and foster the socialistic successor for colleges and universities.
Zhou Xiaode requires the students of Training Class for Youth Marxists should cherish the valuable learning opportunities, consciously assume the historic mission of youth Marxists entrusted by New Era, implement “three combinations”: the combination of theoretical study and ability training, short-term centralized training and long-term self-learning, lofty aspirations and the right growth path, and play “four” roles: an exemplary role in the construction of academic discipline and school spirit, a leading role in various activities, a bond role in daily management and a supporting role in ideological education, and keep “five” solid principles: enhancing solid theoretical attainments, establishing solid beliefs, steadily improving thinking levels, steadily promoting innovation practices and steadily elevating minds and morality to be a youth Marxist satisfied by the Party and People, fulfill youthful dreams in the boundless sky of our country and realize individual value in the vivid practice of national rejuvenation.
