On June 7th, professor and doctor Stephen P. Mead form Northern Arizona University in U.S. presented XUST “Tugai Lecture” and gave a academic speech titled Water/Energy Nexus. Qiu JiSheng, the dean of College of Civil and Architectural Engineering, hosted the report which is held jointly by Graduate Division, International Exchange and Cooperation Office and College of Civil and Architectural Engineering, and more than 100 postgraduates and teachers listened the report.
Doctor Stephen Mead Dr expounded on the energy consumption during the process of water treatment and high energy consumption and high cost, from the perspective of the relationship between water and energy in U.S. and in Arizona's current situation. He focused on the high growth of straight drinking water demand and the sustained growth of energy consumption of sewage treatment system, encouraging students to save water, to reduce the energy consumption and to make contributions to stopping global warming.
Lastly, professor Stephen Mead communicated and discussed relevant scientific issues with our teachers and postgraduate students.
